Open CV - Virtual Advertisement

Virtual advertisements are a recent advancement in sport technology, where a virtual banner is placed in the match using modern computer vision techniques. In this project, we have blended an advertisement banner depicting the ’University of Twente’ logo to an already recorded video for Tennis. In order to achieve better visibility of the banner, it is positioned in the empty space available on the left side of the court, thereby not obstructing the game. To meet this goal, we started with acquiring an edge map of every frame of the video to analyze the environment conditions. Later, for wrapping the advertisement banner, the court boundaries are used to yield the projective transformation matrix so that the banner becomes a part of the existing environment. The banner should remain rigid even with heavy camera movements during the game. To compensate this, the calibration is done by considering the edges of the court boundaries for bringing stability to the advertisement.
